ABOUT AL-SHAKAA SOAP
Founded in 1926, Al-Shakaa Soap Factory, home of the iconic Camel Brand, is one of the historic landmarks of Nablus in the West Bank. Nestled in the old city, this factory has been producing authentic Nabulsi olive oil soap since the Ottoman era, preserving the same time-honored techniques passed down through generations.
Each bar is made entirely by hand using a simple, natural blend of olive oil, caustic soda, and water, cooked over fire for five to six days before being poured, cut into squares, and stamped with the signature camel mark — a tribute to the camel caravans that once transported qilw soda ash for soapmaking.
These soaps are free from fragrances and chemicals, offering a pure, traditional cleansing experience.
Please note: The labels on this final shipment arrived slightly smudged after a long and challenging journey from Palestine. Importing goods from the region remains difficult due to current conditions, but like the Palestinian people, these soaps stand resilient — a testament to heritage, endurance, and craftsmanship.
