FEATURED ARTISAN SHOP

SHARQI PALESTINE ORIGINALS

Meet Hala, owner of Sharqi Palestine

Located in the heart of Ramallah, Hala’s boutique celebrates Palestinian heritage through the timeless art of Tatreez, the traditional hand embroidery that tells stories of identity, resilience, and culture. Each stitch carries generations of history, with patterns that once marked a woman’s village, status, and personal story.

In a place where Palestinians are constantly adapting to daily challenges brought on by conflict and change, Hala’s work reflects that same spirit of adaptation. She blends vintage Tatreez fabrics from traditional dresses with modern fashion design, transforming heritage into wearable art that evolves with the times. Her signature jean jackets, aprons, coin purses, vests, and dresses represent both strength and creativity, preserving the essence of Palestinian identity.

WHAT IS Tatreez?

Traditional Palestinian Tatreez is a centuries-old form of hand embroidery passed down through generations of Palestinian women, traditionally stitched on dresses called thobes and featuring regional motifs inspired by nature, daily life, and cultural symbols like olive branches and geometric patterns.

Beyond its beauty, Tatreez has long served as a quiet expression of resistance, identity, and pride, carrying the story of Palestinian endurance while continuing to evolve in modern fashion without losing its roots.

Blending the Past and Present Through Tatreez

Hala takes vintage Tatreez embroidery and gives it new life by stitching it onto denim jackets, tee shirts, and other modern pieces. All of the embroidery is sourced and crafted in Palestine, supporting Hala's shop and keeping this cultural tradition alive. These pieces are not just clothing, they are a way to honor Palestinian heritage with wearable art.
